Jerry Loomis Obituary

Jerry Loomis
1937 - 2015
Jerry Loomis passed away on November 30, 2015 after a long battle with heart disease.
Jerry was born in Massillon, Ohio on September 21, 1937 to Clara Pansy and Harry Lonson Loomis. He lost his father at the age of 3 and was raised by his mother and eleven brothers and sisters. Jerry left Ohio for Mountain Home, Idaho, when he joined the Air Force at 18, where he served for six years. During this time, he met Karen Collins. The couple married on December 20, 1957, and moved to Parma to start a family. They had four children; Trudi, Shelli, Michael, and Trina. At this time, Jerry worked as a police officer in the Parma Police Department, eventually moving to Boise, where he was named Police Officer of the Year in 1969.
After leaving law enforcement, he worked for the Oregon Mutual Insurance Company, and met his second wife, Marlene McMahon. He later became a correctional officer at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution, and worked for the Juvenile Corrections Facility until retirement.
He is survived by his children and children-in-law Trudi and Jon Olmstead, Shelli and Justin Harrison, Michael Loomis, and Trina Loomis. Among his surviving grandchildren are Derek and Jake Panzeri; Joshua Olmstead, Natasha Gilmore, Brittney Paterson, Christopher Rowling; Tyler, Tanner, and Trever Loomis. He is further survived by great-grandchildren Payton Panzeri, Khloe McNichols, Jax Panzeri, and Tatum Loomis, as well as siblings in Massillon, Ohio.
A graveside service at the Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date.
