Jim Sigler Obituary

James Lee Sigler Jr
1954-2019
James Lee Sigler Jr. was born June 6, 1954 in Downey California to Mary and James Lee Sigler, Sr. He had four younger siblings: Steve Sigler, Tim Sigler, Cyndee Hopkins and Vyckee Sigler. Jim graduated from Meridian High School in 1972 and married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen McKay, in 1974. They were married 45 years.
Jim is survived by Kathleen; his mother, Mary; his four siblings; four children: LeAnn Sauer (Ron), Chastity Ellis (Chris), Kolby Sigler and Alea Fieler (Matt); and seven grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, including stints in Germany, Panama, Fort Carson, Colorado and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He later worked for Hood Corporation and Intermountain Gas. Jim was a creative metal worker, farmer and UTV driver. Jim enjoyed his time with his grandchildren who were the highlight of his life. He was a generous man, a friend to all, a man of conviction and strong faith. Jim will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank the Angels of Oncology at St. Alphonsus in Boise for their loving care. A Victory of Life will be held at the Cross of Christ Church, 11655 W. McMillan Road, Boise, Idaho on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.

Well, I'm here to say I served with Jim in Fort Carson, Colorado. I never met a nicer guy. He had a perpetual "happy and easy going" attitude. Always had a wonderful smile and a kind word. I've never forgotten Jim. I'll always remember Jim with great thought. He's that kind of guy!
My hat's off to you, Sir Jim!

Dear Kathleen!
John and I were so surprised to hear of Jim's passing! I never knew he was battling a mighty foe such as cancer! I as you know, see it everyday in our chemo suite-WAY TOO MUCH for sure!! The last time I saw Jim, driving by, stopping for a chat in the neighborhood, he looked the same as always!I so appreciated and Loved your man!! He helped so many times with that darn irrigating water! He was always so willing to come rescue me in my ineptness! Our yard would be burnt to a crisp if he hadn't come over to save me from all things irrigation!!!He never snarled or moaned and groaned about it either! He kept an easy smile and laugh, made me think he was at my beckon call-anytime I needed him!! All of us "water users" in the subdivision relied so very much on Jim's knowledge and help. You as our secretary, Jim the Ditch Rider, all went well to keep that water flowing! Thank You for all your hard work! I so regret not telling Jim how much I appreciated him!
I will miss seeing him at your place for the meetings, driving by and his wave, the chats over the many years! He was a truly GOOD GUY!! He will be missed, but not forgot!! May the Lord be near to you and all your family. I pray for rest, peace, and Joy to fill your hearts once again!!!

We are truly sorry for your loss. Jim will be missed and he will never be forgotten, may his soul rest in peace.

In the mid 1980's while stationed in Panama our 1984 Toyota Van had a mechanical issue. The retainer for the rear universal joint for the drive shaft had broken. There was no such thing of "going to the local parts store" for parts, this was a special order from the US and possibly 2 - 3 weeks before parts would arrive. Jim jumped into action, he said "I can make one of those". So we went to the Army Auto Hobby facility. Jim started to perform magic with his skills, cutting metal, grinding and shaping. The shop manager asked what he was making, Jim explained what the project was and the shop manager said it would never work. Jim replied with a smile, "it sure will!, and it will be better than new", Jim barked "Red Eye" and jerked his head downward to engage the welders mask and began welding pieces of metal together. After an hour or so Jim was finished. The part fit and worked perfectly and was still working until 1991 when the van was traded for a new vehicle.

Jim excelled at his trade as a pipefitter and he was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.

A one of a kind guy with a huge heart. Jim was a special part of our family and will be dearly missed. He was part of graduations, weddings, funerals and other important family events. A great man gone way too soon.
