Joanna May Obituary

Joanna May
February 2, 1951 - January 21, 2021
Boise, Idaho - Joanna May passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, January 21, 2021, two weeks before her 70th birthday.
For the past five years, Joanna has dealt with many challenges including battling kidney cancer, enduring five major surgeries, spending eight weeks in a leg brace after breaking her knee cap, dialysis, and navigating her Bipolar disorder. She devoted the same energy trying to maintain a normal life during all of this as she did to all of her hobbies, projects, and social commitments.
Joanna was born in Glendale, Arizona and graduated from Northern Arizona University. She later moved to Boise, Idaho in 1985.
She was skilled in quilting, beading, painting, needle-point, crocheting, and was proficient in them all. She was proud to be a Deacon in her church two times. She also twice spoke to a group of psychiatrists about being Bipolar, its effects on her life, and how she was able to maintain a steady emotion through careful monitoring of her drugs and therapy.
She is survived by her husband Revell, daughters Christine and Katie, and brother Lex. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 28th at the Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, due to COVID restrictions space is limited. For tributes and condolences, visit www.cloverdalefuneralhome.com.

I wish to express my deepest condolences and sympathies to Revell and to Joanna's children and grandchildren on their loss of such a special wife, mother and grandmother. I had the fortune and privilege to know Joanna, mainly at Glendale High, where she was a lovely, kind, sweet, caring and intelligent young lady, appreciated and admired by all who knew her. She always wore a wonderful smile and conveyed an inspiring spirit. While I speak for myself, I also believe her high schoolmates would agree that our experience at and our memories of Glendale High were truly enriched by her being part of our lives. She has passed too young but her memory will carry in our hearts.
