Another long time friend and all around Great Guy has left us. I new John from grade school when living on 23rd. We would see each other from time to time after we moved to the Bench in the 3rd grade. One of the great joys of my life was attending Bishop Kelly and reconnecting with many of my old mates from the North End. Rest in Love my Friend you will be missed.

John Anacabe 1965

John Anacabe was a great friend. We grew up together on North 22nd street in Boise. We often played baseball, rode our bikes and generally hung-out together from 1953-1965. One of our favorite places was Elm Grove Park where many of us played: Kathy James, Bill Bader, Tim Halley, Dennis Schaffner just to name a few.
John and my most memorable moment was in 1965 where we graduated, surprisingly enough. We were in Physics under the tutelage of Mr. Markowski. We got the bright (or not so bright) idea to take some White Phosphorus from the lab so that we could write, yet to be determined things on the school exterior walls. Like I said, not so bright. We didn't know at the time that White Phosphorus ignited at room temperature. John opened his locker and I threw the substance wrapped in newspaper in. The package burst into liquid flames and poured out all over the front of John. This was in the middle of a class period change-over so the halls were crowed. I rolled John on the floor in order to help put the flames out while he pulled off his pants. After the flames were out, Kathy Ultican paused as she walked by and just shook her head and kept walking. John and I were expelled for a few days but were re-admitted in order to complete the year, since it was only a month or two before graduation. I don't think John's parents allowed him to talk to be again but I'm only guessing. We were on the ski team together. We had the best classmates one could ever hope for. We had many many exploits.
John, I love you and will sorely miss you my friend. I pray that you are resting in the arms of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
