Joyce Meyer Obituary

JOYCE FAY MEYER
1948 - 2014
Joyce Fay Meyer of Boise, Idaho joined her heavenly father and family on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Joyce was a devoted sister, aunt, friend, and educator; her sense of humor, laugh, and smile lives on with those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joyce was born to Albert and Mayme Meyer on September 25, 1948 in Midvale, Idaho. Joyce was the "baby" of the family as she was born just 12 minutes after her twin sister Jean. Joyce had two older brothers; Dick Meyer, who was born 8 years earlier on the same day as his twin sisters and Ken Meyer who was born in 1947. Joyce spent the first five years in Midvale until the family moved to Weiser. Joyce attended first and second grade in Weiser then the family moved to Ontario. Joyce graduated from Ontario High School in 1966. Following, Joyce attended Boise State University where she earned her teaching degree.
Joyce got her first teaching job in Kuna teaching first grade at Indiancreek Elementary. She ended her 28 year service to education teaching Kindergarten at Hubbard Elementary. Although she taught hundreds of kids, she always remembered names and faces. Following retirement, she spent her time helping to raise her niece and nephew along with her great nieces. Although Joyce didn't have any biological children, she had many kids. Her numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews loved Joyce like a mom. In her spare time, Joycee loved the Oregon coast and enjoyed reading.
Joycee was unselfish and had a heart for all. She would help anyone in anyway and loved unconditionally. Her loyalty to family and friends was unwavering, but it was her deep faith in God that sustained her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brother in law Ed, and brother, Dick. She is survived by her sister Jean Shannon of Boise, ID; brother, Ken (Sandi) Meyer of Hermiston, OR; niece, Kate Shannon of Boise, ID; nephew, Scott (Nikki) Shannon of Spokane, WA and many more precious nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Joyce will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10:30am at the Boise Christian Center located at 9001 W. Overland Rd, Boise, Idaho.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to P.O. Box 541 Kuna, Idaho 83634.

Jean and Joyce were my best friends growing up in the late 50's in Ontario. I have thought about them a lot over the years. I will never forget all the fun we had as children growing up.

Joyce and I started our teaching careers together in Kuna way back in the 1970's. She was a delight to work with. My thoughts and prayers are extended to the family at this very difficult time.

Jeannie, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I know you must be hurting. Joyce was one to laugh and smile often. I have fond memories of her, even though I didn't work with her long. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family.

Joycee was my best friend, my sister, my confidant, she was part of me. My life will never be the same without her. When she went to heaven she took part of me with her. I will miss her every day for the rest of my life
