Karen Kerr Obituary

Karen Brook (Meacham) Kerr
April 15, 1970 - February 15, 2015
Karen returned to her heavenly home as she passed from this life. She was born to Marvin and Sheila Meacham in Van Nuys, CA and moved to Idaho as a child. She was a graduate of Borah High School and resided in the Treasure Valley.
Karen had a great love for the outdoors and nature, she loved caring for her horses and dogs. She loved watching the wild rabbits run about her yard as well as seeing elk come and graze outside her windows each day.
Karen worked for ESI Construction for several years and spent her last years at Knife River Company. She was the Regional Human Resources Manager at Knife River. She loved what a great company it was to work for and how very devoted they are to their employees.
Karen fought a long courageous battle with breast, lung, brain and spine cancers. She participated in the "Walk for the Cure" because of the hope she felt it gave people going through her same battles. She wanted to offer her Thanks to the many people that helped to care for her and her family at the St. Luke's MSTI; with special Thanks to Dr. Bridges and Nurse Andrea. Thank you also to Hospice for their care.
Karen's family was very important to her and she was a great advocate in the care of her parents as they aged, as well as a loving wife to her husband, and caring mother to her daughter and son. She was overjoyed to become a grandmother in December and treasured every moment with her sweet grandson in her arms.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Kerr; her daughter, Kelsey Vanderwiel; her son, Brennin Kerr; and grandson, Kamden Vanderwiel. She is also survived by her father, Marvin Meacham; 4 brothers and 1 sister, Kenny Meacham (Sandee), Ronnie Meacham (Talee), Cheryl Meacham Alius (Marc), Kevin Meacham, Darryl Meacham (Tonya), and their families; three step children, Ashley Kerr, Autumn Kerr, and Anthony Kerr; her loving parents-in-law Larry and Yvonne Kerr; many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; her dearest friend Stephanie Taylor; Caregiver Leslie Doty and her daughter Ava. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sheila McCord Meacham.
A celebration of Karen's life will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:00 at the LDS Church on Locust Grove at Franklin in Meridian. Flowers may be sent to 2562 N. Snow Goose Way, Meridian, ID, 83646. Charitable donations to Susan G. Komen Boise.

Words cannot fully convey the peace I wish for your family right now. Hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on your friends for strength, and always remember to express your Love to those still with us. May you find comfort in God's words written at (Psalm 46:1) God is for us a refuge and strength, a help that is readily to be found in times of distresses
