Kenneth Mayer Obituary

Kenneth Langford "Ken" Mayer
1964 - 2016
Ken Mayer died July 5, 2016, at home of a heart attack. Ken was born November 19, 1964 to Jeannette Johnson and Kenneth Frederick Mayer. Ken's father died when Ken was 17 months old, leaving Jeannette to raise Ken on her own. Ken loved his mother dearly and appreciated, and praised, the hard work and sacrifices she made for him. When he was 18 he became a 911 dispatcher for Ada County, which led to him becoming a police officer, working his way up to Lieutenant for the Garden City Police Dept. He then embarked on a successful career as a computer programs instructor teaching classes all over the world. He was able to take his children and step-children on some amazing adventures around the U.S. that they will always remember. They value the advice and guidance he gave them and the older kids still embrace his love of sports, travel, and martial arts as adults. He loved nothing more than coming home to play with his children after trips away.
Ken is survived by his mother, Jeannette, his children Kaylie, Keaton, Kierstyn and Koen, and step-children Kayden, Kole, Carlin, Max, Jensen and Bryton. His aunts and uncles Michael & Prem Johnson, Robert & Karen Johnson, Dennis Johnson and Sandra Johnson, Tom Duggan, and his beloved Uncle Jimmy Duggan. Uncle Jimmy was a great influence and support for Ken in his life. He cherished their time together and always spoke highly of him. He is preceded in death by his father and his Uncle Gene Johnson.
A celebration of Ken's life will be held at 4:30 p.m. July 19, 2016 at Spring Creek Eagle Island, 3705 W. Flint Drive Eagle, ID. We would appreciate any memories of Ken you would like to share.

RIP Ken! I will forever be grateful for you finding me Nov 11, 1994 when I crashed the patrol car and could not be located. You saw my patrol car in the trees and I needed help! You called for others and stayed even though I wouldn't let you near me. Thank you and God Speed. Gary is waiting to thank you too! You are a true Angel! Prayers for your children & family! Thank you for sharing Ken with so many who loved him and will miss him!
