Larry Maupin Obituary

Larry J. Maupin 1935 - 2011 Larry J. Maupin, 76, of Nampa, died Monday, December 12, 2011, at his home. Inurnment services will be conducted at 11 am, Friday, December 16th, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Nampa, Idaho. Larry was born February 17, 1935, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Celia LaVerle and William Maupin. He lived in St. Anthony for a short time before his family moved to Nyssa, Oregon, and later to Nampa, Idaho in 1941. He was raised and educated in Nampa, graduating from Nampa High School in 1954. Shortly after graduating from high school he worked for the Kaniksu National Forest and spoke often of his summer days on Priest Lake in northern Idaho. In 1956, he married Luann Budell, and they began their family in Nampa. He worked as he continued his education at the College of Idaho, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Economics and Business Administration. Larry graduated from the Idaho Military Academy in 1960, and he served with the Idaho National Guard and was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant in 1961. Larry began his long and successful career with the Idaho First National Bank, during which time he attended and graduated from the University of Washington, Pacific Coast Banking School in 1973. The family continued to grow and Larry worked in bank branches in Marsing, Meridian, and Shelley, Idaho, before settling in Boise. Larry and Luann divorces in 1980. Larry later married Jo Scott and after their divorce married Ladonna Webb. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a very creative person who enjoyed working with wood, improving and remodeling the house, and writing short stories. He enjoyed playing chess and taught his children to play as well. He loved nature and enjoyed spontaneous field trips to Bruneau Sand Dunes and other outdoor destinations in Idaho. He enjoyed photography and took pleasure in target shooting and loading his own ammo. When he took on a project he learned all he could and built it right. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Survivors include 8 sons and 2 daughters; Fred (Sherry), of McCall, Mike, of Meridian, Andrew (Robin), of Parma, Molly (Jeff) Woody, of Boise, Laura (Chris) Johnson, of Boise, William (Cari), of Emmett, James, of Boise, John, of Meridian, Peter (Jodi), of Boise, and Mark (Taresa), of Arvada, Colorado; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services are under the direction of Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel (404 10th Ave. S. Nampa, Id 83651). Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or a charitable organization of your choice.
