Lawrence Bunch Obituary

Lawrence A. "Tony" Bunch 1965 - 2011 Tony was born June 24, 1965, in Boise, Idaho. At the young age of 46, he went to be with his Lord on September 2, 2011, at the VA Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. At the time of his death, Tony was residing with his sister, Denise, and his mother in Boise, Idaho, while fighting a courageous battle with a rare thyroid cancer contracted while serving in Desert Storm. Tony, a lifelong Idahoan, graduated from Challis High School in 1983 before entering the Navy in 1988. He served as a medic in Desert Storm, obtaining his nursing license during his Navy service. After serving his country, Tony married Lynn Lindsey in 1997. His beloved daughter, Abigail Elizabeth, was born on October 13, 1998. Tony and Lynn were later divorced but continued a close friendship and shared in the raising of their daughter. Tony, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, camping, and boating. Most weekends you could find him enjoying the outdoors whether in his boat or camper. Most often, his daughter Abby was at his side. For the past 12 years, Tony was employed as a LPN at the VA Hospital where he enjoyed working and joking with his coworkers who become his other family. During Tony's illness, his VA family provided him and his family with unwavering support, allowing him to focus his energy on fighting his cancer. Tony is survived by his daughter, Abby Bunch, Meridian; his mother and stepfather, Alice and Dick Corrigan, Payette; his brothers, Andy (Jessica) Bunch, Salmon; Shawn Bunch, Eagle; his sister, Denise Aguilar, Boise; his stepbrothers, Mitch (Kami) Corrigan, Challis; Dan (Tanya) Corrigan, Challis; Dave Corrigan, Idaho Falls; and his stepsister, Megan (Larry) Wilson, Ontario, Oregon; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Larry Bunch, his grandparents Joe and Babe Seburn, and Andrew and Charlotte Bunch. Services will be at Treasure Valley Worship Center located at 50 W. Spicewood Drive, Meridian on September 9th. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30, Service at 11:00. Interment will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00. Services are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bowmanfuneral.com. His family wishes to especially thank Lynn Bunch, Jeff and Lorrie Crose, Jean Coones, Rod McAlpin, and Doug Bunch for their untiring support during Tony's illness. We also thank Dr. Smith, MSTI, and National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD for their efforts in extending Tony's life. The VA Hospital and staff were amazingly wonderful in the care they provided Tony. Tony was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The focus of his life was his faith, family, and friends. 'Til we meet again Tony. Don't catch all the fish, leave some for us!!

I had the opportunity to work with Tony at the VA about 5 years ago. He was a great nurse and a really cool guy. I spent lots of time just joking and laughing with him, making the Night Shift bearable. Thanks, Tony! I will miss you.

We feel such sorrow for you all. I was told my a mother I know who lost her son that eventually that big elephant that you feel standing on your chest will walk away and you will be able to heal and to look forward to seeing Tony on the other side.
