Layne Woolley Obituary

Layne Woolley Layne Michael Woolley, age 16, of Hayden, Idaho went to be with his Lord on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 25, 1991 to Shaun and Nancy (Smith) Woolley in Twin Falls, Idaho. Layne was a sophomore at Coeur d'Alene High School. He also lived in Moscow, Idaho before moving to Hayden at the age of five. Layne will be remembered for his courage, wit, generosity and concern for others, and also for his continual smile. He taught us how to be gracious and how to love life and was lit with an inner light that touched all who knew him. He held tight to his faith and looked forward to being in heaven where he would finally be able to "run again". Layne was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and was also active in the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes group. He enjoyed most all sports as a participant and a spectator. He loved his time spent with family and friends, school activities, and swimming, fishing, etc. on Hayden Lake. Layne is survived by his parents and brothers, Joseph and Benjamin Woolley all of Hayden; grandparents, Ross and Dixie Woolley of Emmett, Idaho; aunts and uncles, Carolyn and Greg Tensmeyer of Coeur d'Alene, Susie and Stan Schooler of Boise, Staci and Nathan Low of Emmett, Victor and Judy Smith of Lewiston, Idaho and Pat and Eugene Luttmann of Burns, Ore.; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Leone Smith. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008 at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church, 5350 N. 4th St. with Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene in care of the arrangements. The family prefers memorial donations to Kootenai Cancer Center, c/o KMC Foundation, 2003 Lincoln Way, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814, the Wishing Star Foundation, 915 W. 2nd Ave., Suite 3, Spokane, WA 99204 or the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, at Sacred Heart Medical Center, 1015 W. 5th Ave., Spokane, WA 99204. Shaun and Nancy- To my 2 dear friends from college. Throughout the years our family has enjoyed getting to know your boys....Genesee Days with your kids will always be memorable. As I pulled a picture out last night of Layne sitting with my kids at a parade, I was reminded of what a terrific personality and friend he was to all he met. These past 2 years we have seen your courage as parents and Layne's passion for life and his family. Your dedication to Ben and Joe and your strength with Layne and his illness, has been humbling. Layne was not only a blessing to you, but to all of us who knew him. Our lives have all been strengthened by his presence. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
