Marjorie Boren Obituary

Marjorie Jean Dixon Boren July 22, 1939 ~ August 29, 2012 Marjorie Jean Dixon Boren was born July 22, 1939 in Provo, Utah, the first child of Ralph Dixon and Ruth Ward. After living in Shoshone and Jerome, Idaho for several years, the family moved back to Utah where Marjorie graduated from Orem High School in 1957. She was also Utah State High School Debate Champion that year. In 1957, she enrolled at Brigham Young University and when her advisor told her that her goal of completing her degree in two years was not possible, she stopped going to the advisor and graduated with her B.A. degree two years later in 1959. During that time, she met Robert R. Boren and they were married and sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple on September 9, 1958. They are the parents of four children. Although Marjorie dedicated her life to raising her children, she also managed to provide significant service in the community. She was active in Boise Tuesday Musicale, including serving as President and then President of the Idaho Federation of Music Clubs. Marjorie also had a great love of the visual arts and enjoyed painting and sculpting. She served on the boards of Booth Memorial Home and the Idaho Homeless Coalition where she was very involved in building Community House, a shelter for homeless, and then served on the Community House Board of Directors. She did some part-time teaching at Boise State University. She was very involved with the Boise Peace Quilt Project. She was always very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many teaching positions, counsellorships, and as Ward Primary President, Ward Young Women's President, and both Ward and Stake Relief Society President. Of course, with four children, she also had her turn as PTA president. Even with all of this she managed to publish two books on Idaho wildflowers: Wildflowers of the Sawtooth Mountains and Mountain Wildflowers of Idaho. Marjorie very much enjoyed summers with her family on the Salmon River and moved from Boise to live there full-time in 1999. She became involved in many ways in the communities of Stanley and Challis. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Dixon and Ruth Ward and by two brothers, Gerald Dixon and Stan Dixon and by two daughters-in-law Eva (David) Boren and Natalie (Stephen) Boren. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert R. Boren and their children: David Boren, Michael (Joan) Boren, Elisabeth (Dwayne) Kreipl, and Stephen (Mandi) Boren, and by her siblings Ronald (Jean) Dixon, Cheri (Michael)Anderson and Sandy Dixon. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren—Jennifer (Paul) Clawson, Amanda Boren, Jonathon Boren, Katherine Boren, Jack Boren, Max Kreipl, Tyson Hargus, Nicholas Kreipl, Anna Kreipl, Ella Boren, Loyd Boren, Spencer Kreipl and Elijah Boren and three great- grandchildren—Tyler , Sara, and Hailey Clawson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2012 at the LDS chapel located at 2290 Warm Springs Ave. in Boise. A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel.

What a special daughter of God she was, She lived a very impressive life, raised a wonderful family and was a great servant to her family, her religion and her God. She left the world better than she found it.

Dear Boren Family,
Your mother was always such a great lady and treated me with so much love. I always loved coming to the Boren home to play ping pong in the basement or basketball in the driveway. We loved the New Year's Eve celebrations at your house playing spoons or if we were feeling really tough...forks. Your mom was such a fabulous host, always with wonderful treats to eat and kind words to say. Even when I was grown and visits were much less frequent, your mom would treat me like her best friend in the world and give me her undivided attention while she asked about my family.
I love my association with the Boren family and the example all of you have been to me. I know this time is difficult for those left behind but I know your mom has been greeted by loving friends and family, two lovely daughters and waits patiently for each of you. I know she has an unwavering testimony of our Heavenly Father and his Son as I heard her bear it many times and strongly felt the Spirit testify of the truthfulness of her words.
I love you all very much and hope you will be comforted during this time of separation.
Love,
John Hulme

I met sweet Sis. Boren when I was BSU Stake R.S. Pres. She spoke at one of our Women's Conferences. I appreciated so much associating with Pres. Boren as well. These are choice memories of the past - but such good ones. Cleo Saunders

I sent this in an email to you but it says it best for me.
Sweet Aunt Marj
I learned many things from her. When I think of who has the most beautiful smile I know.. it is hers , her voice angelic... I loved her sweet voice and that darling laugh.
She was grace in it's purest form.
My love and thoughts are with you all,
Katheen
