Marvin Fields Obituary

Marvin Fields

August 8, 2024

Garden Valley, Idaho - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marvin Ray Fields, a devoted family man and passionate outdoorsman. He passed away peacefully at home in Garden Valley on August 8th, 2024 at the age of 83, surrounded by his family.

Born on January 13th, 1941 in Nyssa, Oregon, Marvin was the beloved son of Willa Jane Newby and Ashford James Fields. He grew up with a deep appreciation for nature, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors was only rivaled by his unwavering love and commitment to his family.

Marvin married the love of his life, Kathleen Goggin, on September 3rd, 1966, and together they built a beautiful life filled with adventure, laughter and countless cherished memories. Their marriage was a partnership, grounded in mutual respect and a shared commitment to their family.

A proud member of the Boise Fire Department for 24 years, Marvin was known for his bravery, selflessness and dedication. He was always ready to answer the call, putting his life on the line to protect others. His fellow firefighters knew him as a brother, always willing to lend a hand and share a laugh.

When not on duty, Marvin loved to hunt and fish, paint, play guitar and enjoyed amateur photography. He passed on his love for these activities to his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be held tightly in our hearts.

Above all, Marvin was a family man. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, his children Scott (Crissie), and Dan (Charlotte), his grandchildren Austin, Sara Jane (Jared), Nathan, Corban, Hudson, Allison, Emmeline, Pierson, Jackson and Ashlyn as well as his great granddaughter Mabel and numerous nieces and nephews. His family was his pride and joy and he devoted his life to providing for them, guiding them, teaching them and loving them with all his heart.

Our Pop will be remembered as a man of integrity, strength, loyalty and kindness. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, as a father, husband, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Lee, his mother and father, his brother Garry and his nephews Eric and Robert.

A celebration of life will be held on August 15th, 2024 2:00 PM at the LDS Chapel in Garden Valley, Idaho. Viewing will open to the public August 15th, 2024 1:30 PM.
