Michael Bettis Obituary

Michael Ryan Bettis, 28, was born on April 7, 1982 in Nashville, Tennessee and passed away at his home in Nampa of natural causes on November 6, 2010. Mike was the second of four sons born to David and Angela Bettis and a father of one son, Carson Michael Bettis, age 2. Mike was a special spirit. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his friends or family. He had a smile and sense of humor that would brighten ones heart and lift your spirit. He will be forever missed and there will be an emptiness in our hearts with only memories to fill the void, a void which can never be filled until we meet again. Mike graduated from Nampa High School in 2000 and worked for various construction companies over the years, including Sommer Construction, Big Bite and Theuson Construction. He had recently begun his pursuit of a business degree at NNU. Mike loved to play sports especially golf, softball, bowling and the annual Thanksgiving Day target shooting with his dad, brothers and uncles. Mike also loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his son Carson. Carson was the apple of his eye and he would give or do anything for him. Mike is survived by his parents, David and Angela Bettis; his brothers: Brian (Gayle) Bettis, Phillip Bettis, Jared Bettis; his son Carson Michael Bettis; his girlfriend and mother of his son, Jen Roath; his grandmother Donna Morgan and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 13th at the College Church of the Nazarene, 504 E. Dewey Ave at NNU. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 12th at the Nampa Seventh Ward LDS Chapel, 3015 Sunnyridge Rd in Nampa. Arrangements are being provided by the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa. 467-7300 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a fund that has been set up in Mike's name for his son Carson at any Home Federal Branch.

I had Michael as a teacher in first grade. He was always so wonderfully happy, and a sense of humor that was beyond his years. Thank you for sharing a portion of your life Michael with me.

Dear sweet Michael so many times I have retold the stories of you in my first, first grade classroom. That there was a day when the classroom was wild. Joyous first graders embracing their day as they should. The room echoed. Michael could sense my tension about how to harness this energy. Quietly he came to me and said, "You know what Mrs. Scott, it sounds just like a Chinese laundry in here, doesn't it?" I melted. I melt again for the Bettis family and for those who will not have the opportunity to have this man in their life. Marcia Scott, Centennial School-1st grade teacher of Michael.
