Michael Walsh Obituary

Michael M. "Mike" Walsh 1939 - 2012 Michael M. "Mike" Walsh, 72 of Nampa, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at home. Committal and military services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Condolences may be made at www.bowmanfuneral .com . Mike was born Oct. 10, 1939 in Boise, at the old St. Als to John and Irene Walsh. He was educated in Boise, attending St. Joseph's Academy and later Boise High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1956, serving in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 18th Airborne Corp. After the army, he attended Boise State working his way through and in 1971 he went to work for the Boise City Fire Department. He loved being a Fireman and was very proud of that. He retired in 1991. Mike met Dorothy Waddoups on St. Paddy's Day in 1984 and he made her happy for twenty-eight years. He also loved his animals. For example when he died he had three dogs and nine cats. He was an animal lover; he would never allow an animal to go hungry or without needed medical care. He was an avid, avid reader and would have three or four books going at the same time. He didn't read junk, preferring history, military history, the classics. If it had been thirty years since he read a book, he could still tell you the characters and what it was about. He liked to fish, but mainly he was a putterer, good at many things, and if it wasn't perfect, he wouldn't finish it! Mike was an extremely intelligent man and he could debate with the best of em. Status in life meant nothing to him, he wasn't intimidated by anyone. Dorothy was with Mike longer than anyone. He is survived by her, "His Sweetheart", his beloved daughter Rachael Walsh and two granddaughters, Aiden and Zoe Walsh of Lewiston, his brothers Patrick (Jackie) Walsh of Middleton and John Walsh of Garden City, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by all of Dorothy's family who always considered him a brother. He is also missed by two life-long friends, Fred Hull and Kent Cronk. We know his "critters" miss him two. So Long Sport! I Love You Muchly!
