Nancy Findlay Obituary

Nancy Findlay
May 4, 1957 - September 21, 2021
Boise, Idaho - Nancy Rose Findlay was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world after a two-year battle with colon cancer on September 21, 2021, at age 64.
She was born to Wayne and Mary Rose on May 4, 1957. Nancy was a survivor and fighter. She was born with only one hand due to a birth defect caused by medication her mother was prescribed. Growing up, Nancy routinely faced discrimination and bullying in schools, but emerged stronger, driven, and independent as she had to fight to be accepted and succeed. A testament to her strong will and grit.
Nancy spent her time with her uncles, aunts, and cousins, roaming rural Idaho and swimming in the canals and lakes. Her home was filled with music, and Nancy pursued her passion for music, becoming an excellent French Horn player, earning scholarships for her talent. After graduating from Capital High School, Nancy, ever the independent woman, chose to go into business with her father becoming precious gem brokers, buying and selling gems from faraway places such as Brazil.
She met Chris in 1982 and married in 1983. Together they purchased the historic Blues Bouquet in Downtown Boise and brought in some of the best touring bands; in the early 80's the Bouquet was hoppin'. They sold the Bouquet and Nancy went into the insurance business, becoming a successful executive in a male dominated field. After corporate life, her ambitions led her to open her own insurance brokerage and even a run for Ada County Commissioner.
Nancy and Chris had two children, Mary Rose and Cooper, and her love for them was boundless, supporting them in every way possible. Whatever hobby, sport, or interest, Nancy became interested in. She taught them grit and discipline, and the unyielding belief in oneself to achieve when others would quit. Nancy was known for her quit wit, hilarious jokes and impressions, kindness, and generosity. Nancy made everyone feel like they were the most important person in each moment. A gift of gab that was magnetic and drew people to her. Throughout even the deepest and darkest points in her cancer treatment, Nancy was giving to others. Her strong faith throughout her life, guiding her to help others before herself.
Nancy lived many lives in one lifetime, and was a loving and generous mother and grandmother, affectionately called "Lola" by her two granddaughters, Ella and Maddie. She loved singing and making up songs on the fly with them or telling the tales of old Idaho.
Family who carry on Nancy's legacy and memory include: her husband, Chris; daughter and son, Mary and Cooper; Son-in-law, Brandon; grandkids: Ella and Maddie; and dog, Sam.

Nancy was one of my dental patients. We spend her appointments laughing and having fun. She was a bright star. Beautiful in every way. I will never forget her.

Chris, I am so sorry. There are no words that can truly ease the pain of a loss like this but if caring thoughts can help, mine are with you right now. Nancy was a beautiful woman inside and out, something you could tell -knowing her even for a short time. Take care of yourself. LeeAnn

I am sending my deepest condolences to your family on the loss of Nancy. We were in band together in high school and lost touch after she graduated. I remember her as a great musician and leader. Always encouraging others and being a positive, friendly spirit. I will keep your family in my prayers and hope that find memories comfort you during this difficult time.

I had the privilege of assisting Nancy & Chris many years ago with a purchase for their home. What a gift it was to get to spend a little time with Nancy. Although it was relatively short in the realm of time, I went away always feeling Good, and LIGHT from being around her! I'm so sorry for your loss! Nancy will be missed! Sending Love & Peace for your hearts!
