I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts & prayers are with you all. I will always remember Nathan mowing my lawn with his headphones on, sometimes hitting his head on my birdfeeders and trying not to spill the seed.
Love you all

I cannot begin to express the loss of this old soul. I had the pleasure of teaching Nate for three years, both at Pathways and then at Rocky. At Rocky, my room became a hub for all of my former middle school kiddos, to let loose and feel safe with old friends. Lunch time became my favorite part of the day.
Nate was a lunchtime regular, and he often used this time to "teach and inform" the other students on various subjects he was passionate about. For as bright as Nate was, he valued the opportunity to share what he knew in a way that empowered his peers. He never tried to one-up anyone. Rather, he valued the opportunity to teach. He had a talent for taking more complex topics and breaking them down for others to understand.
He was kind, passionate, wise, and generous, just to name a few. He was rarely, if ever, absent, and always walked into my room with a smile on his face...and his smile was magnetic and welcoming.
I will forever remember Nate walking in with his brown jacket and a smile on his face. As a teacher, losing a student is beyond painful, and never fair. In place of anger for why this soul was with us for just a short time, instead, I try to find the lesson I can take with me from the time I did have knowing Nate. My lesson from Nate is to always find the joy in learning and then in sharing that knowledge. I learned the importance of having a strong sense of self, and the foolishness for succumbing to peer pressure. I learned the power of passion and a smile.
My heart goes out to his family and friends. My prayers are headed their way. We love ya kiddo, and heaven has yet another angel to watch over us. Xoxo.
