Norma Savage Obituary

Norma Jean Bradley Savage, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was 90 years old.

Born in Pocatello, Idaho, on August 7, 1934, Jean was the second eldest of Verl and Doris Bradley's six children. She was a lifelong educator, earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow and a Master of Education from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Jean taught for over 30 years, securing full-time teaching positions in California, Texas, Illinois, Tennessee, and Idaho.

On February 14, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Cecil Dwayne Savage. Over the next 42 years, as Dwayne climbed the academic ladder, the Savage family moved to many different places, including Long Beach, California, where their first son, Marco Dwayne, was born; Berkeley, California, where their youngest son, Clark Bradley, was born; and later to New York City, Austin, Urbana, and Knoxville.

In 2002, Jean and Dwayne retired to spend more time with their sons and grandchildren. They split their time between Alpharetta, Georgia, near their son, Clark, and grandchildren, Nicholas and Rebecca, and Eagle, Idaho, where they spent summers with their son, Marco, and daughter-in-law, Janet.

After 59 years of marriage and 64 years as sweethearts, Dwayne passed away on May 17, 2016. They are now together again for eternity.

Jean is survived by her son, Clark (Stacia Hastings) Savage of Alpharetta, GA; her grandchildren, Nicholas (Austin Johnson) Savage of Cleveland, OH, and Rebecca (Alex) Ferro of Chattanooga, TN; her brother, Barry (Judy) Bradley of Springfield, ID; her sister, Diane (Les) Stith of Boise, ID; and sisters-in-law Kay Savage of Springfield, ID, Kathie Bradley of Cour d'Alene, ID, Tammie Bradley of Meridian, ID, and Donna Prudhomme of Pocatello, ID.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Verl Bradley; sister Doris Pauline; her son, Marco Savage; her brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and JoAnn Bradley; her brother, Robert Bradley; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Derrell and LuAnn Savage; and her brother-in-law, Ronald Savage.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot, ID. Burial will follow at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, ID. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.

In place of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or your Local Humane Society.

Jean will be remembered as a kind, loving, and dedicated person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
