Pearl Newell Obituary

Pearl Rosanna Thornton Newell, 97, passed away with serenity and dignity Feb. 27th, 2010 in Draper, Utah. She was born Nov. 5, 1912 to Warren Chester Thornton and Elizabeth Ann Stevens Thornton in Howe, Idaho. Pearl married her sweetheart Ernest Newell on Dec. 25, 1940 in Gooding, Idaho. Pearl is survived by her daughter Edythe, three grandchildren; Chelli, Sarah, and Marie; three great grandchildren, Carl, Thora, and Emma; three step grandchildren, Jeff, Jimmy, and Jon and four step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Dale. Pearl was definitely a jewel in the crown of life. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends and by anyone that came in contact with this kind, wonderful lady. Her advice to us "I hope you will remember the good times we shared together and go on to have a good life!" Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6th at 10 a.m., at Demarays Gooding Chapel in Gooding Idaho. Friends may call one-half hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Hagerman City Cemetery, Hagerman, Idaho. A memorial is planned at Cottonwood Presbyterian in Salt lake City, Utah on Saturday, March 20th, 2010 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Pearl Newell Memorial Fund at Cottonwood Presbyterian. Arrangements entrusted to Evans and Early Mortuary, SLC.

Grandma Pearl touched my life at a time when I needed her, and I have always held her dear to my heart. Not just because she is my best friend's Grandmother, but in her sweet, loving way, she became part of my family too! I love you Chelli and Liz, may you always remember the parts that make you smile!
