Randall Dawson Obituary

Randall James Dawson "Randy"
1954 - 2013
Randall James Dawson "Randy", 59, left us for his new home in heaven on Friday, September 20, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Greenleaf Friends Church. Burial will follow the services at the Greenleaf Cemetery, Greenleaf, ID. Services are under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences may be sent to www.flahifffuneralchapel.com.
Born to Catherine and Darrell Dawson on February 7, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Randy traveled with his army dad, mom and two sisters, Dianna and Darleen to Neosho, Mo. and later to Mtn. View, California. Randy moved to Idaho in 1989 to be near his mom and sister. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Gary and Dianna Brown of Greenleaf, his nieces and nephews Matt, Mike, and Melissa Brown, and his foster niece of 40 years, Christy. Many cousins, nieces and nephews reside across the states.
Randy's family is grateful for the two families who took care of him after his mother died in 1997, Reed and Melinda Mulkey along with his roommate Carl Fuller, and the Lynn Heinrich family where he resided until February of 2012. We also want to thank the people at Human Service Alliance and his Special Delivery driver, Miguel Valdez, for the kindness and understanding they showed Randy during his decline the past few months. Friends and neighbors and the caring people from Encompass Hospice made this time easier on his family.
Randy never met a person he did not like and put smiles on faces everywhere he went. He loved Jesus, church, the old hymns, 60's music and country. He played practical jokes on his family, and laughed until he could not stand up when discovered. He sometimes sang too long, clapped too loud, and shook hands too hard. But Randy loved life and lived it without ever hurting anyone's feelings, ever lying, ever gossiping, ever complaining; therefore he lived never having to say he was sorry. Randy will be missed more than words can say.

I know having him in my life taught me many things and in turn I taught others about Down's Syndrome. He was always the sweetest guy with a happy smile and big hug. I remember when he was little, he loved to eat ice cream, frequently too fast. He began to call ice cream "pain in the head". What a brilliant description of the effect!

He loved to tease my sisters and me and enjoyed making us laugh.

I know the gates of Heaven stand wide waiting for him. I am so very glad he was loved his whole life. Bless Dianna and Gary and their amazing kids.

Randy was a great person with a big heart. My heart smiles when I remember his handshakes and the way he always sang loud and proud at church on Sunday mornings. God has surely received an angel like no other. Our condolences to Dianna and all of her family as they go through this week and move forward. God Bless you all.

Thoughts and prayers to Randy's family and friends. His sister, Dianna Brown, made such a difference in the Down syndrome community because of the love she had for her brother. She inspired me in many ways. So, thank God for Randy! He made a wonderful mark on the world.
