Robert LaRosa Obituary

Robert G LaRosa

July 25, 1947 - December 5, 2024

Garden City, Idaho - Robert George "Bob" LaRosa, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 77 from congestive heart disease. Bob was born on July 25, 1947, in Santa Monica, California, and grew up in Big Bear, California, where he developed his lifelong love for the outdoors. He was the only, and treasured, son of Rosario George LaRosa and Eleanor (Corbett) LaRosa.

A proud patriot, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years, completing two tours in Vietnam with the Navy Mobile Construction Battalion better known as the Navy Seabees. During his service, Bob, affectionately nicknamed "Rosie," formed a bond with Dennis "Mac" McClintock. Rosie and Mac served together in Vietnam and for the last 58 years have remained lifelong friends, exemplifying the brotherhood forged in military service.

After his military service, he returned to Oregon where his parents were living and met Iva (Powers) LaRosa. They were married on April 29, 1972, in Reno, Nevada, and together, they built a rich and adventurous life filled with friends, hard work, and family.

Bob's career was as varied and colorful as the landscapes he loved. He worked as a logger, a construction worker, and the owner of an animal feed store in Kooskia, Idaho. He also served as a skilled hunting guide for Meadow Creek Outfitters, sharing his knowledge of the wilderness and passion for hunting with others. Later in life, he worked as a support technician for David Taylor Acoustical Research in Bayview, Idaho, before retiring in 2002.

In retirement, Bob embraced his adventurous spirit, traveling extensively through Mexico, both in Baja and on the mainland, as well as exploring the southern United States. Whether hunting, fishing, boating, or socializing with friends, Bob was happiest in the great outdoors and in the company of loved ones. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride.

Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Iva LaRosa; his daughters, Jana LaRosa (Matt Howell) and Bree LaRosa (Tony Jordan); and his beloved grandchildren, Terren LaRosa, Dita Fromm, Ara Fromm, Olivia Howell, and great-grandson Robert LaRosa.

Bob's warmth, humor, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family finds comfort in the many wonderful memories and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind.

Hello Iva,
Sue and me are still together in Grangeville. I don´t have the words to describe my feelings at this time. The past memories of many years ago are still fresh in my mind. We hope you and family are doing well. I still have a photo of Bob, George and myself above my desk taken at our oh so successful elk hunt in the 1980´s. This with along with such wonderful times with each other.
Just don´t know what else to say, so sad.
Love Mark and Sue

I was grateful to assist him with his benefits and sit in support of his acceptance as his military exposures ravished and deeply changed his long term goals. He loved showing of his great grandsons photo all the time and his favorite pastime was being able to watch over him! I will miss him dearly!
