Robert Moore Obituary

Robert "Bob" Moore died on Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home in Meridian, Idaho, where he was a lifetime resident. Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 22nd, 11:00 AM at Legacy Church, 1507 N. Meridian Road in Meridian. Ralph Lowe will officiate. Interment will follow at Meridian Cemetery.
Bob was born on June 18, 1927 in Boise, Idaho, son of Warren and Viola Moore. He enlisted in the Navy with 7 other seniors from Meridian High School in May 1945, and was stationed in Hilo, Hawaii. When the war ended Bob returned to Meridian where he met Doris May Long, and the two were married on April, 16, 1947. Bob worked at the Idaho Power Company for 37 years as a lineman and troubleshooter, advancing to supervisor. He was a member of the Meridian City Rural Fire Department for 34 years, and served as the Battalion and Assistant Chief. Bob was a longtime member of Meridian Athletic Association, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, and a six gallon donor to the Red Cross blood bank. He participated in numerous civic activities such as hanging the Christmas lights and paving the Meridian Speedway. In his spare time, Bob was an accomplished bowler who loved to camp and play cards. He had a special affinity for steelhead fishing, visiting with friends, drinking coffee and eating Doris's homemade pies. Bob never met a stranger and had a knack for spinning a good yarn or telling a joke. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Doris Moore, of Meridian; his brother, Richard Moore of Meridian; two daughters: Sherry (Don) Woolsey and Terri (Mike) Landa of Boise; one son, Randy (Vicki) Moore of Meridian; four grandchildren: Keely Moore of Meridian, Julie Moore of Baltimore, MD, Joe (Allison) Woolsey of Fort Collins, CO and John Woolsey of Vancouver, WA; and one great grandchild, Annie Moore of Meridian.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Hospice, the Red Cross or your favorite charity. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.accentfuneral.com. 55 years ago, Bob was the dreaded inspector for our home rewiring project who was so kind to a couple of poor kids doing it on our own. He apologized for not telling of us of a small detail that caused our job to fail but was encouraging that even a girl could make the changes for a pass! A long time ago to remember a kindness and we blessed his memory.
