Robert Robson Obituary

Robson Robert Morgan Robson, 84, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006. Bob was born in the Wardner hospital on Nov. 28, 1921 to Ira Allen Robson of Montana and Margaret Morgan of Idaho. Bob grew up in Kellogg, Idaho, graduated from high school there and attended the University of Idaho where he studied pre-med. He joined the Navy in 1941 and was assigned to Naval Air Training Command in Florida. He said the only good thing he got out of the war was his wife. He married Catherine Penelope Agee, of Mobile, Ala. in 1944. After the war, they settled in Idaho and Bob went to Law School. Bob was a life long member of the Republican Party: he served as the State Finance Chairman, on the Executive Committee and eventually as the Attorney General for the State of Idaho from 1969 to 1971. Bob was appointed District Attorney for the Trust Territories in the South Pacific in 1954 and operated the Micronesian Prosecutors School there. Altogether, Bob practiced law for 5 years in Grangeville, 3 years in Micronesia, 13 years in Kellogg, 15 years in Boise and 6 years in Phoenix, Arizona. He successfully argued a case before the Supreme Court of the United States in 1970. Among his many accomplishments Bob started the Idaho State Police Academy and re-opened the Episcopal Church in Grangeville. He was devoted to DeMolay, scouting, the Masonic Lodge, and the University of Idaho. Bob committed his life to public service. Bob was a passionate aviator. After training fighter pilots in WW II, he spent the rest of his life flying for the pure joy of it. Bob and Penny, his wife of 62 years, retired in Hayden. He has four children: Catherine Lynn working in Afghanistan, James Allen of Hayden, Margaret Leslie and Kevin Whaley of San Diego and Robert Agee of Hayden. He has six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. His ashes will be buried at the feet of his mother-in-law, Eugenie Agee, in Alabama. A public remembrance will be announced and held in November. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d´Alene is in care of the arrangements. Special thanks to the Circle of Life at the Kootenai Medical Center. The family prefers memorials to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835, St. Luke´s Episcopal Church, 501 E. Wallace Ave., Coeur d´Alene, ID 83814, or the charity or your choice.

I must say Grandpa Bob always did have a way with words. I remember as a young girl, he and I wrote letters back and forth to eachother. One letter stood out. As a girl on the brink of becoming a teenager I was so curious about love. He told me in one of his wonderful letters that love was an action, not just an emotion or feeling, you actually had to do love. I think that is wonderful. I miss Grandpa.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Bob's death. He was a most important person in my life and in the lives of those who lived in Kellogg, Idaho. He always stood up for the "little guy" in his law practice. His standards of practice and ethics were of the highest. He inspired me to go to law school and try to follow in his footsteps, an impossible goal. I send my sympathy to Penny, Lynn, Leslie, Jimmy and Rob. I will miss Bob's presence in the world and his wonderful cackling laugh.
