Just to say Ron was a great example and some of us continue to work as he did, hoping there will be others following along the same path.

Ron was the single most important influence in my life during my middle school years (ages 11-13). He very generously taught me and my younger sister Carla how to ski when I was 11 (at Mt Hood Meadows where he worked), took us on backpacking trips to the White Cloud mountains in Idaho, and taught me fly fishing. Carla and I were so lucky to know Ron, and to be mentored by him! I'd be very grateful to connect with his next of kin to share great memories of Ron.
Best, John

He lived with Peter and I in Hood River, Oregon. He was our photographer as we flew at low altitudes photographing power lines for Montana Power and Bonneville power. He was always on the move and a lot of fun to be around. I am so sorry he is already gone. I had hoped to see him again. Dianne Julian Champagne

Ron was a good friend. I always enjoyed talking with him about Forest Service battles and boxing. I was fortunate enough to talk with him before his passing. I was a board member on his Idaho Sporting Congress. I worked with and for him on several key battles. Idaho and the country need more Ron Mitchells. I will miss him.

Ron, Thank you for being a mentor to my nephew Marc. He was one of your inexperienced young attorneys that you helped launch an impressive career in environmental law. Now Marc is helping in the fight to save something dear to my heart. The Boundary Waters. Thank you. You would be proud of him, I know l am.

Ron's impassioned fire on behalf of wondrous wild nature is legend in itself. He left an enduring legacy in the many places he helped protect, blazing an articulate, call-it-like-it-is integrous path for others to follow and emulate.

As one of the referenced young, inexperienced attorneys, I'll always be grateful for Ron taking a chance on me and mentoring me in my early years.

I am so proud to have been his friend. I admired Ron a great deal, and I learned important lessons from him. Ron was not the kind of man you meet every day. Unfortunately.
