Roy Marler Obituary

Roy N. Marler Roy N. Marler, 80, of Meridian, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17 surrounded by his family at a Boise care center. Roy was born Sept. 19, 1927 to Norton and Ora Marler in Pocatello, Idaho. Roy spent his early years in Pocatello camping and fishing with his family. Roy loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking his family on adventurous camping trips. His favorite place to camp and fish was Stanley. Roy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Marler and children, Tracy (Deanna) Marler, Larry (Renee) Marler, Dayna Sluder, and Robert Johnson of Idaho, James (Mary) Marler of California, Diane (Jerry) Turberville, Sydney (Lewis) Pearson, Steve Johnson, and Patricia (Norman) Funk of Utah, Laura (Steve) McBeth, of Pennsylvania, and 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Dad,
My life is richer for knowing you. We all really did still a piece of time with you. I am forever greatful to you and Mary for loving me unconditionally and making me to part of your family. You were the best In-Laws a girl could ever ask for. It's hard to believe it's almost be 20 years. You would be have been so proud of Tracy, Larry and Dayna at your service. They were the wonderful children you would have wanted them to be on this day. We will always have you in our hearts and hold dear all the memories close to us. I remember you always told me I got cuter everytime you saw me, we always laughed, then I would say give me a break. I can see you standing their in your favorite sweater. I love you too Roy. We miss you so. Love De Anna

Pops,

I can't tell you how I feel at this moment; I can tell you I already miss you greatly. I laugh and cry at the same time remembering all the silly things you said or did. You were the one who taught me to look on the bright side, find the funny in things... "We need to laugh; yep that's what we need". You said that to me and mom so many times over the last two years. We did laugh, didn't we? Mom didn't always find things as funny as we did.

I miss you sticking your tongue out at me when I would come visit you at the nursing home. I miss the times when you'd tell me to shut up when I told you to behave. I miss watching football with you. I miss us giving mom a hard time. I miss your humor, which you never lost. Your grandsons would sit and just watch you, waiting... waiting for Papa to be silly. They never had to wait long.

The thing I miss most is the twinkle in eye right before you turned into a dork. You, just being you.

Thanks for that last kiss on the cheek. I love you Pops, and I will miss you very much.

Pops,
I cannot begin to tll you how much you are missed by DeAnna, Danielle, and myself. You were a great father, but mostly a great friend. I was very lucky to spend as much time with you as I did. Working together, camping, fishing, hunting, and riding with you on bird runs. I will always remember the laughter we all shared. Thanks for teaching me how to be a good husband and father. Our journey through this life was to short. WE LOVE YOU PAPA!!!!
