Ruby Colson Obituary

Ruby Elma Colson 1925 ~ 2011 Ruby Elma Colson, 85, passed away on November 4th, 2011 at St. Als hospital. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, November 10th 2011 at 1pm at the Church of God Seventh Day located at 1808 W 3rd in Meridian, ID, 83642. Ruby was born December 15th, 1925 at St. Als Hospital in Downtown Boise to parents Elmer Hill and Agnes Foss Hill. Her father Elmer owned a well known truck factory located in historic Downtown Boise. Ruby is survived by her two children Greg Colson of Anaheim, California and Debra and Rod Bacus of Boise. Two granddaughters Eydie and (Steve Dorko) and Caren and (Randy Fuller). Three great granddaughters Emma and Sydney Fuller and Sabrina Dorko. Ruby is preceded in death by her late husband Bob F. Colson and two twin brothers Robert and Harold Hill. Ruby graduated from Boise High School in 1944 and married Bob F. Colson October 31st 1948; they were married for 40 years before his passing. Bob's work took Ruby and the kids to Utah and California, back to Boise and later Cascade where Bob served as Mayor. Bob's failing health later brought them back to Boise. Ruby worked for the Boise school district as a secretary for North Jr. High and South Jr. High, retiring in 1993. Ruby had a deep spiritual connection with her Savior. Because of the love she held for the Lord, she found joy in praising his name through music. Her talent, a gift passed on by her mother Agnes, allowed her to teach piano throughout her life. She inspired children and adults through her teaching. Ruby used her gift of piano to accompany the singing group called the "Foot Notes" for close to 20 years. She also played piano for her church in Meridian. Ruby and her daughter Debra sang for many years in the singing group called the "Madrigals Sounds of Music." Ruby loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a talented artist who enjoyed oil and tole painting, her favorite subject was roses. Ruby loved taking yearly trips to Disneyland with her family where she combined visiting her son Greg in Anaheim with a trip to the "Magic Kingdom". Ruby was always active, she never knew a stranger, she was friendly, genuine and loved to celebrate life. By God's grace, Ruby was unaware of the advanced pancreatic cancer until the last 3 days of her life. She was loved by many friends and family and will be truly missed. I have such fond memories of summer vacations at Aunt Ruby and Uncle Bob's house. Lots of treasured Thanksgiving dinners too. She was so loving toward all us kids. I also loved hearing her music. She will be truly missed.
