Sally Elizabeth Rutledge

Sally Elizabeth Rutledge Sally was born Sept. 15, 1943, in Boise to Helen (Carlson) and Clyde Rutledge. She passed away on June 25, 2008, after a two-year battle against cancer. While undergoing many courses of chemotherapy and radiation, Sally energetically continued to enjoy skiing, tennis, yoga, cycling, weekends in McCall, visits with friends and relatives. After growing up in Boise and graduating from the University of Idaho, Sally began her teaching career in Boise. She worked in Denver for three years and taught skiing at Steamboat Springs for two years. Sally taught fourth grade for 30 years in Meridian and Eagle until retirement in 2005. Her special passion was Idaho history. Sally is survived by her siblings Sharon (Verne) Lawrence, Sandra (James) Lancaster, and Jess Rutledge; by nieces and nephews Sarah Lawrence, Helen (Steve) Hagen, Donald Lawrence, Jonathan (Jennifer) Hill, and Benjamin Hill; and by eleven grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Susan Hill. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church's Emmaus Center, 11th and Hays, Boise 83702, at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 30. Sally's family would like to express our deep gratitude to the MSTI staff, Dr. Kreisle and Jill, Dr. Perez, Dr. Kuhn, the chemo nurses, and the nurses on 4 South for their great efforts to keep Sally on the slopes. We appreciate the loving care Sally received with St. Luke's Hospice staff. We are grateful for the angel, Rommy, who guided us through Sally's last three nights.
