Sandra Nance Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" L. Nance
1941 - 2016
Sandra (Sandy) L. Nance passed away at a local hospital on February 21, 2016 of lung cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 20, 1941 to Raymond Whitney Lee Jenkins and Thelma Louise Rhodes in Boise, ID. She recently celebrated her 74th birthday with her family on November 20, 2015 and enjoyed every minute of the party. She grew up in Boise and attended schools in Boise as well. Sandy met James S. Nance (Jim) while waitressing at the Howdy Pardner Drive-In, Boise. They were married on October 28, 1961 in a small mining town, Golconda, NV. Together they raised four children. Lorrie L. Panzeri (Kelly), James L. Nance, Angela M. Nance, Michael R. Nance (Erika). They in turn gave them twelve grandchildren. Derek, Jake, Joe, Kristina, Brianna, Natalie, Jamie, Cindi, Sadie, Shelbie, Lydia, and Michael. She has great grandchildren that were able to see her the past few months of her illness and make her laugh. Her secretarial skills and friendly nature led her to work many years for Pitney Bowes, The Jones Medical Clinic, and finally retire from Blue Cross of Idaho.
In their retirement years Sandy and Jim loved to RV and wintered in Yuma, AZ. They traveled extensively around the United States camping, fishing, and parking for as many NASCAR races they could find. Her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt passed away on The Daytona 500 race 15 years ago and she decided to join him on the same day to claim her seat in heaven. The family has joked that she arrived just in time for the last few exciting laps so she could get Mr. Earhhardt's expert opinion on who he thought would win. She was cheering for Kevin Harvick.
She was brave and fought the debilitating disease of lung cancer with grit, determination, and humor. The family would like to thank St. Alphonsus Cancer Center in Caldwell for their loving support as well as the oncology floor in Boise for the care she received when she first got diagnosed September 30, 2015 and the care they gave her the last few days of her life. She will be missed not only by her devoted husband Jim, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, but also her siblings, Dick, Debbie, Todd, Dave, Duane, and Melvina. Numerous nieces, nephews cousins, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Thelma and her sister Sandy.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home, Meridian Chapel, 3629 E. Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to give the family love and support.

My sincerest sympathies to all of the Nance family. As Lorrie's friend for the past 35 years, I've come to know many of you. Your wife, Mom, Grandma, sister will be very very missed. My favorite memory of Sandy is her and I sitting in a hospital waiting room while Lorrie was having a procedure. While we waited, she got me laughing so hard that we were both crying and getting some irritated looks from other patients' families... : ) My experience of Sandy was that she lived life fully and didn't hold back. All my love to the Nance family. Continue taking care of each other as the best honor to her memory.

A long time since I last saw Sandy but I will always remember her smile and laugh from the many family reunions in my teenage years. I don't think I can remember a time when Sandy wasn't a part of the Nance family.

Sincerest condolences to all in Jim and Sandy's family and God speed you on your journey, Sandy.

Thank you Sandy for all the great times and memories from working with you at Blue Cross of Idaho. But most of all, the fun times we had camping and dancing(you and my hubby,Jim had the most fun dancing though) and our singing, joking around and a drink or two. You will be missed by so many. Keep your tennis shoes white kiddo.

I have nothing but good memories to remember her by. She always had a smile & could laugh at anything. I admired here for being straight forward & living life on her own terms. She will be missed by many but will hold a place in all of our hearts for many years to come.
