Steve Nelson Obituary

Steven Roylance Nelson
1944-2017
Steven Roylance Nelson died peacefully in his sleep early Sunday morning, May 28, 2017, of natural causes. He was born to Karl Giles Nelson and Clea Minerva Roylance in Boise, Idaho on March 28, 1944. Some of his fondest memories are of his times growing up as a child. In his last moments of life, his mind was sharp enough to recall stories of many childhood memories with his cousins and grandparents - working on the farm and such. Steve attended Borah High School and graduated in 1962; the first graduating class to attend all 3 years at the new school. He married Madge Hansen in March 1964 and they had 6 children. During his adult years, he went to radio school in California and worked at KGEM studios and KTVB in Boise. He had many careers through the years, most notably his part ownership in Nelson Rent-All from 1974-1984. Steven was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for much of his life and loved the Lord and the teachings of the Gospel. He loved his family. Although separated from them for the last several years of his life, his greatest desire was to make amends to all of them before he passed and be surrounded by them in love. In his final moments, he was still able to charm those he associated with and was privileged to enjoy some of the music he loved - many of the songs from the 40's, 50's, and 60's. His mind was as sharp as ever and even startled us when he would blurt out facts in his half-consciousness. He is now in a better place, surrounded by many extended family members who have gone before him. May his passing bring healing and peace to all he knew.
Steven is survived by Madge H. Nelson; his children, Eric (Tracey) Nelson, Constance (Vaughn) Wilkes, Cynthia (David) Barnes, Stacey (Michael) Miller, Darin (Jocelyn) Nelson, and Valerie (Justin) Thacker, twenty-three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Janet (Gregory) Ekeroth; and a brother, Randall (Jenny) Nelson. Steven was preceded in death by all his grandparents, his parents, Karl and Clea, and a brother, Richard.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday evening, June 2, 2017, from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at the Relyea Funeral Chapel, located at 318 N. Latah St., Boise. A private family graveside service will be held. Services are under the direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel.

Steve was a good friend. He sang in our ward choir, and was a blessing in all of our lives. He always had wonderful insightful things to say in classes, and loved the lord. He will be missed.
