Susan McCabe Obituary

Susan W. McCabe
March 7, 1928 - May 13, 2015
Susan W. McCabe, most fondly known as Granny to those she loved, passed away at home May 13, 2015 in Eagle, Idaho.
Susan was born March 7, 1928 in Los Angeles, CA to Robert and Polly Walker. She was raised in Newport Beach, CA and grew up barefoot on the beach with her brother Bob and sister Midge. After graduating from high school she ventured to the East coast to attend Pine Manor College in Massachusetts. This is where she met and married William Holmes McCabe, Jr, October 14, 1950 in Newport Beach, CA. As newlyweds they moved to Kentucky, and had their first child, William (Mac). Shortly after they moved to Lakewood, CA and later to Anaheim, CA. Here they settled, and expanded their family with the addition Polly and six years later Michael. They had a wonderful life in Southern California, but decided to trade it in for a slightly slower pace and she and Bill moved to Eagle, ID in 2004.
Family was most important to Susan. There has never been a kinder, more giving person than Granny. She was the most unselfish, loving, giving, and positive mother who lived life fully and led by example. She lived her faith on a daily basis. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all. Granny's greatness touched all who came in contact with her. She spent much of her time doing for others, and over the last 30 years donated thousands of hand knit hats to hospitals for premature infants, wounded vets, and overseas to the soldiers.
Granny lived an inspiring life and touched so many people along the way. The world has lost a great mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend.
Susan is survived by her three children, Mac, Polly, and Mike; daughter-in-laws, Cheryl and Cathy; son-in-law, Gene Kuehn; and grandchildren, Kathleen, Casey (Jeff), Jeffrey, Courtney, Mark, and Will.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veteran's Cemetery, Boise, ID.

What a wonderful lady and hostess she was to our friends. We loved golfing with Bill and many times we would end up at their home eating clams or their awesome tomatoes. Rest in Peace Mrs. McCabe.
