Tanya Etlinger Obituary

Tanya Ann Etlinger
1969 - 2016
Tanya (Whitesel) Etlinger, of La Habra Heights, CA, passed on April 26, 2016 at the age of 46 following a courageous battle against breast cancer. She graduated from La Habra High School, received her B.A. from The University of Southern California, and then obtained a Master's from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA. She pursued a successful career in marriage, child and family counseling with private and public institutions. In 2003, she married Matthew Etlinger in southern California. In 2011, they adopted a baby girl, Abigail, and welcomed twin boys, Jacob and Max, in 2012.
Tanya had a great sense of adventure and a strong character. Her deep compassion balanced by high standards showed in everything she did. She loved outdoor activities; especially snow skiing. Her spirit took her all over the world and graced many a person, developing lifelong friendships. Most important, she was an amazing mother, a loving wife, a wonderful daughter, a fabulous sister and a great friend. Tanya will be sorely missed, though we will always have her fun-loving and vital character within us.
Tanya is survived by her three children, Abigail, Jacob and Max; her husband, Matthew, formerly of Boise; her parents, Dave and Siri; her brother, Vance, and sister-in-law, Alla; her sister-in-law, Marianne, of Oakland, CA; her father- and mother-in-law Charles and Dodie, of Boise; and many adoring friends. There will be a private celebration of life. We will miss you, Tanya.

Tanya, the date of your passing is soon coming up. I still miss you. Your children have grown and are learning a lot. Matt has been the best father possible. You are talked about and your children will always know who their Mother was. They have great support now and are happy. I still love you.

It is April 23, 2020 and I still miss Tanya as if I saw her yesterday. She would have been a great Mom for her three children, and a loving wife to Matt.

Tanya was such a light for our daughter and family in one of our darkest times. She counseled my daughter, Maggie, after a horrific trama. She helped put the pieces together again. She and Maggie stayed in touch after the Etlingers moved back to California. She was such a wonderful, caring person, and we were blessed to have her in our lives. Sherri West, Enid, Oklahoma

Tanya, I will miss your laughter and humor. We had so much fun shopping and sitting on the patio after a day of running after the 3 toddlers. You were a great MOM and a wonderful daughter in law. I will always remember you. It breaks my heart that you have passed. Love you.
