Ted Vouzikas Obituary

Ted Vouzikas
February 24, 1933 - April 23, 2022
Meridian , Idaho - On Saturday, April 23, 2022, Theodore (Ted) Vouzikas, loving husband and father of two daughters, passed away at age 89.
Ted was born on February 24, 1933, in Isari/Megalopoli, Greece, to Costadinos Vouzikas and Christina Striglis Vouzikas. On April 17, 1966, he married Calliope(Pope) Korres Vouzikas, and they moved from Athens, Greece, to Chicago, Illinois, where they raised two daughters, Christine and Irene. Ted was a hard-working immigrant, a proud American, working in a variety of trades including Brachs candy company as well as the maintenance department for MacNeal Hospital for over 20 years. He was also a lifelong real estate investor, rarely ever hiring help for repairs at his rentals because he was the "quintessential handyman".
After living in Chicago for 35 years, he and Pope retired and moved to Meridian, Idaho, in 2002 to be closer to their beloved daughter, son-in-law, three grandchildren, and milder winters. In his retirement years Ted was an accomplished gardener who enjoyed grafting plants and trees and growing various organic fruits and vegetables. He loved the outdoors, fishing on Payette Lake, cooking his latest catch, raising chickens, defending his fruit trees from the neighborhood squirrels and riding his bike all over Meridian. Ted also loved to travel to Greece yearly to visit friends and family. He especially loved going in the fall to enjoy the harvest of figs, fruits, nuts and olives. He was known for speaking his mind, updating everyone on current events and telling many long-winded stories. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved to chat it up with neighbors and friends both in person and on the phone.
Ted was preceded in death by his father, Costadinos, his mother, Christina, brothers John and Costadino, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pope, his daughter, Christine Christodoulou of Los Angeles, CA, son-in-law Dr. Chris Christodoulou, grandchildren Alexandra, Christian and Zoe Christodoulou, his daughter Irene Curran of Meridian, ID, son-in-law Dr. Andrew Curran, grandchildren Jack, Callie, and Sophia Curran. Three nieces, one nephew, numerous cousins, and many others still in Greece. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 5-7pm with a Trisagion service at 6pm to be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road, Boise, ID 83713 on Friday April 29, 2022.
The funeral will be held at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church 2618 W. Bannock Street, Boise, ID 83702, On Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11am. Burial to follow at Morris Hill Cemetery, 317 N. Latah, Boise. Everyone is welcome to join the family and friends for a light lunch following the burial at Spurwing country club 6800 N Spurwing Way
