Trudy Van Manen Obituary

Trudy Van Manen
1921 ~ 2015
Trudy Van Manen, 94, of Nampa, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Nampa on Thursday, November 12, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Ave. So. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. The family will greet loved ones and friends at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. on Friday evening from 6 – 7:30 PM. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com.
Trudy was born on May 8, 1921 in Holland where she was reared and educated. She married Tony Van Manen on July 17, 1947 in Holland. In July of 1949, they immigrated to the United States along with their son, John. They lived in Virginia, Michigan, and Southern California, moving to Nampa in 1962 where they purchased a dairy farm east of Nampa. Mom was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked hard on the farm and then in 1972 received her L.P.N. license from Mercy Medical Center. For a number of years she worked as a nurse at the Idaho State School and Hospital. She really enjoyed her work there and caring for the residents. They later sold the farm and moved into town where they made their home. Our dad passed away in 2008 and she continued to make her home in Nampa until 2013 when she moved to Grace Assisted Living. She enjoyed living at Grace and we are grateful for the care given by the staff that added to her quality of life. Among her many accomplishments were writing her book "Under the Shadow of His Wings," and being a computer wizard up until two weeks before her passing. She attended Centennial Baptist Church in Caldwell for many years, where her grandson, Tony, is pastor, until her health worsened and could no longer attend. For a number of years she enjoyed being part of a ladies group that called themselves the "Golden Girls." Mom was a very devoted Christian, serving the Lord faithfully all of her life.
Trudy is survived by her 6 children and their spouses, John and Debi Van Manen, Nampa; Adrian and Bonnie Van Manen, Oklahoma City, OK; Betty and Rob King, Nampa, Willy and Lewis Dean, of Nampa; Jeanie and Jon Haupt, Boise and Rachel and Garrett Miyauchi, Nampa; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Atty and Jan Schouten and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kees and Lucy Baars, and Gys and Hetty Baars, all in the Netherlands; a number of nieces and nephews in Europe; and her cousins, Evert and Dora Van Beek, Nampa; Swan Van Beek, Caldwell, Jeltje Van Beek, Nampa, and Jannie DeLeeuw, Ontario, Canada. She was also preceded in death by 2 infant sons and 2 sisters in Holland.
Along with our appreciation to Grace Assisted Living, the family would also like to thank her close friend and physician, Dr. Wendy Siegersma; the staff at Treasure Valley Hospice for their special care the last 2 weeks of her life, and to the many special friends who visited her often at her home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hands of Hope NW, 1201 South Powerline Road, Nampa, ID 83686, and Lifeline Pregnancy Care Center, 1323 12th Avenue South, Nampa, ID 83686.

My deepest condolences to your family on the loss of your Mom and Grandma. Heaven has gained another angel.

November 18, 2015

I know Mom and Dad, Tom and Dorothy Cotner, would send condolences if they were here so I will send for them. I don't know if they were able to meet your mom, but they thought the world of you kids that they knew. Maybe they greeted your mother in Heaven. :-) Mom was at Grace Assisted from Jan. 2012 - May 2014 so maybe they did know each other and visited with each other a time or two. May the Lord Bless and comfort you with precious memories. What a comfort it is knowing she is with our Lord.
