Wyoma Ham Obituary

Wyoma Ham of Meridian passed away on December 8th, 2009 at the age of 66 of multiple organ failure. She was born in Moore, Idaho to Richard T. and Lorraine Taylor. Her early years were spent in Moore and the Antelope Valley with her family, where her father worked for the Taylor grazing association. She attended grade school in Moore Idaho and high school in Arco. Throughout her early years, she developed a self taught love of painting, especially of horses and dogs. Many people were recipients of some of her beautiful art pieces. She was also a self taught musician and played several instruments, including the piano, organ, guitar and the accordion. She developed a passionate love for horses very early in life and was an accomplished rider and teacher. This passion took her on many adventures, from being the Womens Idaho State Barrel Racing champion in 1961 to outfitting in the Idaho Central Mountains, to raising & showing registered Arabians. Her love for Arabians gave her the opportunity to meet many influential people - from the folks who started Wrigleys Gum to Wayne Newton. Her pleasant demeanor allowed her to make friends easily. She loved talking to people & rarely forgot a name and could converse on many topics. Because of this, she was able to become a sponsor and wonderful councilor for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). There were very few people in her life that she didn't call friend. After Wyoma decided to move to Boise with her daughter Jami and son Gayle, she graduated from the Lady Catherine School of Beauty as a licensed beautician. Then, Wyoma met and married Frank Ham in June of 1969. In 1970 she welcomed her 2nd daughter Sharon to the family. Over the next few years she helped Frank develop a successful sod farming business in Meridian while raising her three children. She enjoyed traveling when she could, visiting England, Alaska, multiple Midwest states and many trips to the Oregon Coast. Wyoma is survived by her husband, Frank Ham; her sister, Nola Miller; her daughter, Jami Grasmick (Bobby); her daughter, Sharon Walbridge; six grandchildren (J.R. Grasmick, Crystal Grasmick, Brandon Walbridge, Brittney Walbridge, Alex Ham & Jessica Gambill); and two great grandchildren - twin boys Braden & Connor Gambil, all of Boise. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard (Dick) & Lorraine Taylor; and her son Gayle. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the LDS 2nd Ward Church at 3451 N. Locust Grove Rd. (Ustick Rd & N. Locust Grove Rd.). A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Relyea Funeral Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church on Wednesday prior to the services. www.relyeafuneralchapel.com

Frank, I was so sorry to hear of Wyoma's death. I have tried to email her several times since we moved from Stanley, with no response. I met Wyoma in 1964 in Stanley. She came in from the hills about every 2 weeks to do laundry and buy groceries. Also take a bath in the Valley Creek Hot Springs. We had a lot of good visits and I always admired her spunk. I met Jami when she was quite small and she sang "California Here I Come" for us. Funny the things you remember isn't it? I met you several years ago when you took a drive to Stanley. Thanks for emailing me.

May each of you find comfort in knowing that God is "near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." (Psalm 34;18) He has promised to soon "swallow up death forever...and wipe the tears from all faces." (Isaiah 25;8) Take care,
