Delitha Walker Obituary

Delitha 'Sue' Walker

On January 19, 2021, we said goodbye to our beloved mother, Delitha 'Sue' Walker. Sue was 94 years young and full of love, faith, knowledge, and adventure. Sue was a Cadet Nurse at the end of World War II; she was a Special Education Coordinator for the Ohio Department of Education; and she also established a second Master's Degree in Counseling which she continued to utilize throughout the rest of her life. Sue Walker was no stranger to adventure. She taught herself how to play the harmonica and did so while driving around the state serving educators. A highlight of her life was, at the age of 75, she volunteered to go to Bogotá, Columbia. Sue taught first grade to the children of missionaries. Then, at the age of 90, Sue had a desire to ride in a hot air balloon, and many of her friends made that dream come true. Our Mom's unwavering faith and pursuit of the Lord was apparent in the way she loved those around her near and far. She was devoted to her church and to the community until the very end. She touched the lives of so many and sincerely loved sharing life with others.

Sue Walker was the daughter of Jack and Lamonte Anthony from Pickens, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty, and brother Jack. Sue is survived by her six children: Gary Walker, Sue Walker, Allison Bolin, Greg Walker, Michael 'Todd' Bolin, Mark Bolin, and their spouses, whom she loved like her own. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Kassi Bolin, Jordan Bolin, Josh Bolin, Gregory Walker, Nate Walker, Victoria Walters, and Ty Walters. Sue has many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. Sue will be greatly missed by all.

The family will be hosting a "Celebration of Life" memorial on Sunday, May 2nd., at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake Cable Clubhouse, 5725 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton, OH 44718.

Sue was my supervisor when I taught at the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She was always kind and very helpful. After her retirement , she came to the NCYMCA where I was an instructor. She had a lot of friends there and was fun and friendly to the other members. She will be missed.

You have the most wonderful daughter, Allison. She was my mentor as a flight nurse and now close friend.
