RICHARD SPONSELLER Obituary
Age 81 of Canton passed away Thursday morning, January 18, 2018 at Country Lawn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Navarre. Dick was born February 26, 1936 in Canton, the son of the late Clement and Edna (Stover) Sponseller. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Tri-State Teachers College. A Senior Project Engineer, he retired from the Timken Company 43 years of service. Dick was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering at the former Brunnerdale Seminary.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Sponseller. He is survived by his wife, Janet (Goshe) Sponseller with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage this past November 11th; children, , Eric (Melissa) Sponseller of Lima, Dr. Craig (Eva) Sponseller of Montgomery AL. and Cindy (Paul) Wolf of North Canton; grandchildren Stella Sponseller, Sabrina and Mackenzie Wolf. Dick is also survived by his cousins, David Sponseller of Ann Arbor, MI, Robert Sponseller of Carrollton, Jean Joliat of Canton, Joan Celento of Canonsburg, PA., Mary Lou Palguda of Youngstown and James Sponseller of Dayton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Church with Fr. Scott Kopp as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the Mass in the church. Those unable to attend may sign the online guestbook at www.dwilliamsfh.com.
