Violet Kallanian Obituary
WORCESTER - Violet "Vehanoush" (DerManuelian) Kallanian, 80, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Violet was born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Giragos "George" and Margaret DerManuelian. In 1955 she married and moved to Worcester, where she raised her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Peter "Bedros" Kallanian; 2 daughters, Renée (Kallanian) Eghian and her husband, George, of Seekonk, MA, and Michèle (Kallanian) Adelinia, and her husband, Rambod, of Auburn, MA ; a son, Claude Kallanian, and his wife, Mary, of Nashua, NH; 4 Grandchildren, Shaheen Adelinia, Amir Adelinia, Shant Eghian and Armen Eghian. She is predeceased by her brother, Mesrob DerManuelian. She also leaves 2 sisters, Rose "Vartouhi" Vartanian, of Fairfax, VA and Agnes "Shooshig" Aghjayan and her husband, Haig, of Lincoln, RI; several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Violet worked as a seamstress for several companies, the last being House of Doherty, downtown Worcester, before retiring in 1998.
Violet was a dedicated member of the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church.
She enjoyed cooking, reading and playing solitaire, but most of all she loved all the special time spent with her family and friends…she will be forever missed.
Her gentle spirit, generous nature and wonderful smile will live in our memories and sustain us.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 4th in the CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester, MA. The funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 5th, at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 635 Grove Street, Route 122A, Worcester, MA. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, Worcester, MA. 01605. To place an on-line condolence, please.

The passing of a wonderful lady named Violet has left a great void, greatest in the lives of her immediate family of whom she was exceedingly proud (and rightfully so).
Having experienced the loss of a parent, we can relate to the pain that is felt now, and will be in the days and weeks just ahead. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you work through this, as we're confident that you will. It is our sincere hope (wish) that, sooner than later, the void will be filled with thoughts & reminders of the love, kindness, and countless memories which Violet provided during her long and rich life.
Although we did not have the pleasure of seeing her often, she always made you feel like it was just yesterday when we were together. We will miss the sparkle in her eyes, and her warm laughter; but we feel exceedingly blessed that we knew her.
