W. Raymond
(Ray) McAfee
92, of 451 Ray Ave. Carrollton, Ohio died Aug. 24, 2012 at the Carroll Healthcare Center. Born Sept. 17, 1919 at Fairmount, GA., he was the son of the late Arthur and Annie McAfee. On Nov. 25, 1948 he was married to Suzzanne Lumley of Carrollton. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, and a four year veteran of World War II in the 42st Infantry Division of the Army in the Southwest Pacific. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. He also served as a police officer and the Chief of Police in the Village of Carrollton for 26 years, retiring at the end of 1984.
Surviving are his wife, Suzzanne; a son, Brad (Dotty) McAfee of Carrollton, Ohio; two daughters, Vickie (Tom) Toussant of Pittsboro, Ind., and Gail McEver of Villa Rica, Ga; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Ralph) Havens of San Diego, Calif., Eric (Dana) Toussant of Brownsburg, Ind., Becky (Mike) Rubin of Candler, N.C., Dana (Dan) Trowell, Jimmy Hefner of Dalton, Ga., and Angie (Louis) Gore of Villa Rica, Ga; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Services will be held Aug. 28, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Sweeney- Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Dan Loomis officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation will be Monday from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 85, Carrollton, Ohio 44615, or your favorite charity.
