Stephen B. McAfee, 81, of Moline passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at his home in Moline.
Visitation will be 3-6pm Wednesday, March 4, 2026 with a funeral service to follow at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Memorials may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Steve was born March 24, 1944 in Davenport, IA the son of Warren and Dorothy Flemming McAfee. He married Susan Miley October 9, 1976 in Rock Island, IL. Steve worked as a machinist at Rock Island Arsenal for 25 years. He retired as a supervisor of the 209 Paint Department. He was also the National Secretary/Treasurer of NFFE. After retirement Steve worked alongside his wife Susan at Bookkeeping Associates in Moline.
Steve was a member of Rock Island Arsenal Auxiliary Police. He was a self-published author of books Eddie and Shattered Time, which were enjoyed by many. He was a true patriot and enjoyed remodeling cars, fishing, country dancing, and spending time with friends at Leisure Lake in Iowa where he had a place for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife Susan; children Stephen Hennley, Michael (Jolene) McAfee, Steve (Malica) Boyle, Stephanie (Paul) Borges, and Benjamin McAfee; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren with 2 on the way and a sister Penelope “Penny” McAfee-Hamby.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Theresa, twin sisters Kathryn and Virginia, and a sister Charlotte Porter.
