Bobby J. Cox, 77, of 101 Fair Play Rd., Townville, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017 at his residence.
Born June 18, 1940 in Hart County, GA, he was the son of the late Perry Lee and Mary Cornelia Cox. Bobby served in the United States Army Reserves for several years. He began his career at Orr Lyon Mill while in high school and later became a Department Manager until the mill closed. He then went to work for Springs Industry at the Wamsutta Plant until his retirement. Bobby was a member of Townville Baptist Church where he served as an RA Leader, Sunday School director, Church Treasurer, Deacon and was a member of the choir. Bobby enjoyed golf, Bluegrass music, playing the banjo and Clemson Football.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Ramage Cox, daughter, Janet Gordon and husband, Kenny, son, Robert Cox and wife, Cynthia, grandsons, Jonathan Elmore and Robby Cox all of Townville, Ryan Gordon of Seneca, Lee Lyda of Walhalla, granddaughters, Robbie Lee Barbosa of Charlotte, Michelle Vaughn and Natalie Wood both of Williamston, three great grandchildren, beloved brother, Roger Cox and his wife, Linda of Travelers Rest, nieces, Susan Vandevender and husband, Chuck and Kristie Reid and husband, Carl, nephews, Michael Cox, Kevin Cox and wife, Melissa, Brian Cox and wife, Angie, great nieces and nephews, Joshua and Kaitlin Clark, Ayla and Andrew Vandevender, Perry Reid, Emily and Anna Cox, Reagan and Abigail Cox, Jacob and Jessica Cox; and sister-in-law, Sue Ramage Ashley and her husband, Dennis of Belton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Townville Baptist Church with Rev. James Crittendon, Rev. Bob Marcaurelle and Dr. David Blizzard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Townville Baptist Church Family Life Center following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Townville Baptist Church Youth Fund, or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, P.O. Box 125, Townville, SC 29689.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the members of Fork Rescue Squad, the Pastors of Townville Baptist Church, Oakdale Baptist Church and Dickson Memorial United Methodist Church and the Townville Community for the kindness shown to our loved one and family.
