Frances Sandifer Obituary

Frances Sandifer

Westminster, SC

Frances Annette Ballard Sandifer, wife of Cecil T. Sandifer, Sr. co-founders of Sandifer Funeral Home, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Married for over 74 years, Frances and Cecil were both reared at Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood, S.C where they met and were childhood sweethearts. Frances was always appreciative of Connie Maxwell for providing her a loving and wonderful home and never forgot the beautiful memories made there. That appreciation was shown by establishing the Cecil and Frances Sandifer scholarship and helping build the Sandifer Dining Hall.

She was born in Richland County on April 11, 1921 to the late Henry and Essie Summers Ballard. Frances graduated from Greenwood High School and Greenwood Business College. She was a member of Westminster Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.

She had a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived the words of one of her favorite hymns. "Take time to be holy, Speak oft with thy Lord". She was a loving wife and mother. Frances had a wonderful sense of humor and was said to be sassy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Cecilia Gaddy (Charles) of Summerville, Sandy (Sharon) of Seneca, Becky Miller of Westminster, Rosalyn Kaufman (Stefan) of Hamburg, Germany, Greg of Westminster, Jeff of Westminster and Mimi Anderson (Bobby) of Anderson 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Westminster Baptist Church in Westminster, SC. Entombment will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens, Westminster, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cecil and Frances Sandifer Scholarship Fund, Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P. O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648-1178.

Dear Sandifer Family, We are sorry that you lost your Wife, Mother and Grandmother. My Mother and Daddy (Harry and Peggy Childs) always spoke so highly of you and of your work. Ms. Peggy and Ms. Frances were in Oconee hospital at the same time delivering babies (I was one) in 1947 at the exact same time. They bonded and became lifelong friends. We are so sorry for the loss of someone so special. Love and prayers, Judy (Childs) Stancil
