George Whitman Obituary

G. T. WHITMAN BRADLEY - George T. Whitman, 73, of 1909 County Line Road, Bradley, husband of Jan Sudduth Whitman, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at his home. Born in Lowndesville, he was a son of the late Thomas Vernon and Sara Lexie Ashworth Whitman. He was the owner of Whitman's Rentals in Greenwood and attended Trinity Baptist Tabernacle. Surviving is his wife of the home; four daughters, Sheila Tripp and Misty Butler, both of Greenwood and Georgia Hembree and Candie Ward, both of Bradley; fifteen grandchildren and extended family, Mike Redd, Jeff Redd, PeeWee and Willie LeFevre. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Jean Whitman, a sister, Pauline Driver and brothers, Herman Whitman, Buck Whitman and Plumer Whitman. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Tabernacle, 910 Sweetwater Road, with the Rev. Randy Ouzts and the Rev. Kevin Hembree officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Frankie Still, George Driver, Jeff Redd, Mark Terry, James Smith and Mike Redd. Honorary escort will be the men of Trinity Baptist Tabernacle. The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W.
