Helen Brown Obituary

Helen Elizabeth Acker Brown, age 90, of 1105 Bolt Drive, wife of the late Malcolm Everette “Mac� Brown Jr., died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the NHC Healthcare of Anderson. Born in Anderson, SC on December 16, 1916, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Joseph Oliver Acker and Cora Lee Bannister Acker. She was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn “Gwen� Elaine Brown Pruitt and her husband, Ben T. Pruitt of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, Tammy Pruitt Mangum and her husband Dennis of Charleston, SC, Steven M. Pruitt and his wife, Ashley of Greenwood, SC, Joseph Michael Brown of Tampa, FL and Laila Elizabeth Brown Malone and her husband Mike, of Charleston, SC. Eight great-grandchildren, Patrick, Zachary, and Jennifer Mangum of Charleston, Molly, Sanders and Jacob Pruitt of Greenwood, SC and Aiden and Veda Malone of Charleston, SC also survive. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Malcolm “Buddy� Brown; her brothers, William Grady Acker and James Ralph Acker and her sisters, Minnie Frances Acker Shaw and Laura Sara Acker Smith. Mrs. Brown was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Susan D. Brown. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 11:00 am at Riverside Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Mike Fitzpatrick. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The family will be at the residence. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 521 N. McDuffie St. Anderson, SC, 29621 or Riverside Baptist Church, 504 S. Gossett St. Anderson, SC, 29621.
