Clyde Crayton Obituary

STANFIELD - Clyde Lee Crayton, 84, of 4239 Renee Ford Road, Stanfield, N.C., died on Aug. 19, 2009, at CMC-NorthEast. He was born on June 18, 1925, in Stanfield. The visitation will be 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Kinza Memorial Baptist Church, 4311 Love Mill Road, Stanfield, with a 30-minute state. Dr. Darrell Nance and the Rev. Don Jordan will officiate. The burial will be at the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be by DAV Stanly County Chapter 12. The family will meet at his home. He was a carpenter and employed by Elrod Construction in Charlotte. He was also a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a member of Kinza Memorial Baptist Church in Stanfield. Survivors include his daughter, Delaine Morton and husband, Richard, of Stanfield, son, Tim Crayton and wife, Ava, of Stanfield; sister, Lona Yow, of Stanfield, five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Earl Virginia Yow Crayton; father, John Nelson Crayton; mother, Gertie Lou Hinson Crayton; son, Garry Crayton; and four brothers. Memorials may be made to Kinza Memorial Baptist Church Playground Equipment, 4311 Love Mill Road, P.O. Box 147, Stanfield, NC 28163.
