KANNAPOLIS - Franklin D. "Frank" Hamby, 74, of 201 Horne Street, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 at CMC-NorthEast.
The funeral service will be at noon, Wednesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Rev. James Strickland officiating. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hamby was born Feb. 2, 1933 in Jefferson, Ashe County the son of the late William Rudy Hamby and the late Mary Ann Spears Hamby. He was retired owner of Frank Hamby Floor Covering and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Mr. Hamby was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include daughters, Delinda Hamby and Samantha Hamby both of Kannapolis and Janet Cline of Concord; sisters, Opal Haynes and Ora Spears both of Concord and Jessie Wineberger of Maryland; and grandchildren, Jacob and Amanda Cline.

Margaret King Terry
NANTUCKET, Mass. -Margaret Elizabeth King Terry of Nantucket died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at Our Island Home in Nantucket, MA. She was 91.
Margaret was born in Concord, on February 24, 1916. She was the oldest child of Dr. Richard Morrison King and Miriam D. King. She was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church, Concord and as a child attended First Presbyterian Church, Concord. She attended Concord schools, was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated in 1932. She graduated in 1936 from Randolph Macon Women's College and was admitted to the Protestant Episcopal Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, Pa. Her father had completed his medical residency there. In 1939 she joined the American Red Cross Nursing Corps. In the fall 1941 she came to Nantucket to serve on the Cottage Hospital Staff. Nov. 10th, Armistice Day was her first day of duty. During this time, she met and married Henry Riddell Terry on April 6, 1942. Together they raised five children. As well as being a mother, she was an avid gardener and maintained her own vegetable garden each year. She taught Sunday school at St. Paul's Episcopal Church for 25 years. She helped to organize Plan and Playtime, one of Nantucket's first pre-school programs
In 1963, Margaret went to teach for 6 weeks at Nantucket High School and stayed for 17 years. She taught Nantucket History, Latin, Biology and finally English. During the summers of 1968, '69 and '70 she attended Tuft's University. She received her Master's degree in the teaching of English there. Margaret was yearbook advisor during her years of teaching. She retired from teaching in June 1980.
Margaret returned to her native Concord in the fall of 1980 to live in the winters. Each summer she returned to Nantucket. She also loved to travel to and went to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Germany, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark and Scotland. Margaret was a life member of DAR, a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. In February 2003 she moved back to Nantucket.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Riddell Terry, daughter, Virginia Anne Hart, and her brother, Richard Morrison King, Jr.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Vince and Betsy Mann, Henry and Anne Terry, Mike and Meg Connolly, Mary Terry, and Lee Hart; grandchildren Lisa Hart, Julie Hart, Jennifer Harlacher, John Mann and Kiley Mann. She had three great-grand sons. Her sister, Dr. Elizabeth King of South Carolina, also survives her.
A memorial service will be held on Nantucket in June.
