March 26, 1942 - September 12, 2024
Iris Deane Clay Clanton, of Cleveland, NC passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Gordon Hospice House.
Born March 26, 1942 in Cabarrus County, NC she was the daughter of the late Jim Clay and Jewell "Juanita" Belangia Clay.
Mrs. Clanton was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, class of 1961. She worked at Kayser Roth Mill as a sewing technician and with KOSA as technician for 20 years. Mrs. Clanton was a member of Landmark Church. She loved sewing and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with travelling to the Outer Banks.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Thomas Hartsell Clanton; brothers, Tony Clay and Jimmy Clay.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jamie Hooper (Sherrie); daughter, Lisa Hooper Pickett (Rick), Savannah Hooper; brother, Butch Clay; sisters, Frances Rowland, Betty Clay; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2024 in the Summersett Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike Robinson officiating.
