Philip Lofty Obituary

Philip Lofty FAIRFAX, Va. Surrounded by family, Philip Allen Lofty died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Va. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 139 Manor Ave. SW, Concord. The internment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Philip Lofty was born Sept. 10, 1952, in Highpoint, to the late Henry and Nell Lofty of Kannapolis. A beloved husband, devoted father, cherished brother, loving grandfather and loyal friend, Philip will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. He was a leader in the field of Biotechnology and Quality Assurance. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed reading and traveling. He was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Lofty, in 2008. He is survived by his wife, Maria "Tina" Lofty of Fairfax, Va.; daughter, Theresa Juelch and her husband, Chris, of Boulder Creek, Calif.; sisters, Deanna Lofty of Mt. Pleasant and Cynthia Gwinn of West Virginia; brothers, Bruce Lofty of Kannapolis and Bryan Lofty of Concord; and by the joys of his life, his two grandchildren, Charlotte and Dylan Juelch of Boulder Creek, Calif. Memorials may be made to The Hunger Project (www.thp.org).
