Tony Lee "Jivey" Williams, 67, of China Grove, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
Tony was born April 7, 1954, in Mooresville, to James Lee Williams of Concord and June Medlin Hartsoe of Kannapolis. Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude Herman Medlin and Gussie Inez Medlin.
Tony is survived by his mother June Hartsoe of China Grove; and his sister, Anita "Tammy" Corriher of Kannapolis; his nephew, Ivan Corriher of China Grove; his niece, Kayla Corriher of Salisbury; and several cousins.
Tony was a lifelong area resident and graduate of A. L. Brown High School. After graduation, Tony worked as a supervisor in the Sheet Metal Department at Cannon Mills. He then sold real estate and later became an accomplished car salesman and sales trainer. In later years, Tony worked as a captain on casino boats on the Atlantic coast. Tony always loved music and was an avid dancer. He played drums in several bands. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and especially loved being on his sail boat. Throughout his life, Tony was a musician, mill worker, salesman, sailor, pilot and captain. He was outgoing, fun-loving, ambitious and funny. He never met a stranger.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 20, at Whitley's Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 20, prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at his mother's home in China Grove.

Tony was my first boyfriend. He came to see me in Charlotte with his drums sometimes. He had my name painted on the side of his Red Mustang and his name painted on the other side. People would just yell hey Debbie or hey Tony. He was such a fun person and I was flooded with great memories of him..I´m glad he had a wonderful adventurous life. So sad knowing he passed on. Praying for the family and friends that will miss him so much.
