Paul Chianese Obituary

Paul A. Chianese, of Hadley, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday May 4, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on December 13, 1941 in Bronx, NY, a son of Silvio P. and Adrienne M. Chianese. He spent his early years in Westchester County, NY and his teen years in Susquehanna. He attended parochial elementary school and three years of public school before graduating from Laurel Hill Academy in 1959.
A graduate of the University of Scranton in 1963, majoring in accounting, Paul was employed by IBM for 30 years, mostly in middle management. After retirement, he was recalled as a consultant for 5 years. At IBM, after working in various locations, he settled in Raleigh, NC where he helped raise his children.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, whom he married on February 14, 1995, sons Eric (Cathy), John (Kristen), and Paul (April), daughter Gabrielle, stepsons Bryan (Cheryl) Saylor, and Darren Saylor, and stepdaughter Robin (Wes) Bates, grandchildren Robert, Julia, Nick, Caty, Jacob, Charlotte, Reece, Greyson, Derek, Danny, Haley, Hayden, Maggie and Katie, a great grandson Weston, brothers John (Judy), Edward (Gwen), sisters, Adrienne Rigo, Olimpia (Richard) Baldi and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Theresa.
Paul was a member of St. Michael Church, Greenville. Before ill health became an issue, Paul enjoyed golfing each day it was possible and bowling, only when necessary. He served on the Commodore Perry School Board for 7 years, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Italian Home Club, and until this spring he maintained a thriving tax service/accounting business.
As a golfer, Paul would spend time each winter in Myrtle Beach with several friends, where golf was enjoyed from sunrise to sunset. The sport was also highlighted by the golfer's dream – a hole in one – not once, but twice at his local course, Pine Hill where he held a membership for many years. He missed the game very much.
Paul devoted many of his retirement years to his local Moose Lodge #276. In 2010, during his 6 years serving as administrator, the lodge received the Shining Star Award from Moose International, which was awarded according to lodge membership, support of Mooseheart and Moosehaven and support of community. As administrator, Paul himself was nominated twice for the Shining Star Award. He served 8 years as district secretary and was instrumental in initiating the Youth Awareness Program in area schools.
Paul enjoyed life, mostly spending time with family, children and grandchildren, of whom he was especially proud. The annual Chianese family reunion was one of the highlights of his year. Paul was a kind, generous, loving man and a true friend to all he knew, always willing to give of himself to any and everyone who needed his help. Our hearts are heavy as he leaves us for a better place. He was truly loved and will be truly missed
