RIchard Terpstra Obituary

Richard Terpstra, 86, of Montrose, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Born on January 23, 1935 in Passaic, NJ.
He was the youngest son of the late Andrew Anne and Sophie [Heimstra] Terpstra. His wife Barbara [Riley] Terpstra predeceased him in 2020.
Richard graduated from Fairleigh-Dickinson College in Teaneck, NJ with a degree in accounting, and then he earned his CPA licence. He worked for Mathis-Koenig Accountants in Rutherford, NJ and later established his own accounting service.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose.
While living in New Jersey, he was a member of the Lincoln Park Library Board and the Elks Club.
He enjoyed weekend camping trips with the family when the children were young, and after the children left the nest he enjoyed going on bus trips with his wife to see different parts of the country.
There were many home improvement projects done with his late wife by his side.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Deborah (Debbi) Ann Terpstra of Montrose, Dr. Sharon (Shari) Lee Fisk (Jeffrey) of Hamburg, NY, Patricia (Patti) Sue Terpstra-Blalock of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren Brett [Oy], Emily, James and Melanie; great grandson Michael; a sister, Henrietta Kommer of Clifton, NJ; a brother, David Terpstra of Wayne, NJ; brother-in-law, Lester Riley, Jr. (Karen) of Crimora Station, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A son-in-law, William Joseph Blalock predeceased him.
Services were held Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, 367 Church Street, Montrose. Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the church
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose at the above listed address.
