Charles Bell Obituary

Charles Alton "Bub" Bell, 84, resident of Sunset Drive, husband of Sherry Hedrick Bell, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born July 16, 1939, in Greenwood, SC, he was a son of the late Fredrick F. Bell, Jr. and Audrey Anderson Bell. He was a graduate of Ninety Six High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in Civil Engineering. Bub was also a US Airforce Veteran and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity while at USC. He was the Owner and President of Bell Associates, Inc. in Greenwood for many years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood where he was a member of the Mauldin Sunday School Class. He was also a member and former President of the Sportsman's Hunting Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his children, Deborah Bell McCallum, Charles A. "Chuck" Bell, Jr., Laura Bell Barnhart and husband Scott, and Lynne B. Elliott; sister, Anda Bell Woodward and partner Richard M. Lindahl; five grandchildren, Lea McCallum Lott (Copper), Laura Katherine McCallum Steifle (Joseph); Ashley Barnhart Zimmer (A.J.), Haley Scott Barnhart, and Margaret "Maggie" Elliott Mink (Tyler); one great-grandson, Townsend Treadway Mink, III; and his godson, Corey Sease.

In addition to his parents, Bub was preceded in death by a sister, Freddie A. Bell.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 1 pm at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jay Hedrick, Brey Hedrick, Blake Hedrick, Kevin Sease and Corey Sease.

The family is at the home of his daughter, Lynne Elliott.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Greenwood, 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649.
